OPEN BOATHOUSE SATURDAY, AUGUST 26th 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM

FSRA Central District Championship Regatta – April 1, 2017

Girls Team Update:
The coaches are quite pleased with our girls continued success on race day! On Saturday, we were able to test out some line ups in 4s that may race at future regattas and although the competition wasn’t significant, it was good to get some boats out on the race course. Our eights continued to be in the pack of all races. We learned a valuable lesson in the V8 – always have a parent or coach on the finish line with a camera! Many people on the dock thought that we won, but the finish line said that WP won. The finish line should have had a camera, but did not. It was a phenomenal finish by our girls closing a 7 second gap on WP from before spring break.
Here are the results from Saturday:
  • 1V – 2nd place (officially behind 1st place by only .2 seconds)
  • 2V – 2nd place
  • F8 – 2nd place
  • 3VA – 1st place
  • 3VB – 3rd place
  • J8 – 3rd place
  • V4 – 1st place
  • Ltwt 4 – 1st place
  • F4- 2nd place
Men’s Team Update
This weekend was a great success for the men’s team as we took our first dip into the Championship season. We’d like to thank all the parents for everything they’ve done for make weekends like this so successful, and to congratulate our athletes for performing at such a high level.
  • Our Junior Four had a hard fought race and came across the line in third.
  • Our Fifth Eight raced in the very competitive Junior Eight category and came home with a bronze medal.
  • Our 3V and 4V both raced in the Men’s Third Eight category and finished second and fourth.
  • Our Men’s Varsity eight accomplished a feat that hasn’t happened in many years for this team and brought home a District Championship in the fastest boat class against some of our biggest rivals. Putting the OARS name on that trophy is an important first step in our championship goals this season.
  • Our Second Eight also brought home a district championship by almost 10 seconds. This feat wouldn’t have been possible without each and every member of that boat giving it their all. We’d like to give a shout out to Ethan Dorval and everything that he contributed to his teammates. Ethan you’re a valuable asset and a treasured team mate, we’re all rooting for you and can’t wait to see you back at the boathouse.
